“Filter Magazine's Culture Collide Festival is like the feisty little brother to bigger music fests like SXSW and Coachella, and by all appearances, a lot more interesting (not to mention less expensive). The extended, multi-venue tribute to independent music has a lineup that's not just indie, but good. Wednesday, the festival kicks off with a separately-ticketed party featuring Theophilus London and a DJ set by Black Lips, who also play the Echoplex Thursday. That's when Voxhaul Broadcast takes over the Downtown Standard, also hitting the Echoplex Saturday. Friday at the Echo, there's the UK's Boxer Rebellion, who headline the TOYOTA Antics Block Party on Sunday, along with Tokyo Police Club. But Culture Collide isn't just about the bands. Food trucks like the Gastrobus, Don Chow Tacos, Lomo Arigato, the Dim Sum Truck, and India Jones will also roll out favorite interstitial snacks — making Culture Collide not just about music, but in more ways than one about taste, too.”
