He was the man with the recognizable deep and throaty voice, a constant smile, and a trumpet by his side. First gaining recognition in the 1969 comedy Hello, Dolly! with Barbara Streisand, and again for a new generation in the 1987 film Good Morning, Vietnam's haunting use of the song "What a Wonderful World," Satchmo, or Pops to his friends, died of a heart attack one month before his 70th birthday. The Grammy Museum presents Louis Armstrong: Good Evening Ev'rybody, a never-before-seen film, centering around the Newport Jazz Festival in 1970 and featuring performances from bebop king Dizzy Gillespie, gospel songstress Mahalia Jackson, and, of course, Pops himself.
