“Kenneth Anger protégé Brian Butler has produced several of the renowned occultist filmmaker's most recent works, and is responsible for bringing the octogenarian auteur out from obscurity and into the public eye. Now, Butler's own short, Night of Pan, has its turn in Projections: A Festival of Rare and Hard-to-See Films. Starring Vincent Gallo as the eponymous god, the film also features a demonic Twiggy Ramirez (bassist of Marilyn Manson), and Anger himself, sporting a real-life "Lucifer" tattoo emblazoned across his chest. Filmmaker, musician, and artist Butler presides over the Thelemic ritual of ego death and spiritual attainment, imbuing the lush, spellbinding cinematic gem with hauntingly magical attributes.”
