Famous Monster Presents: LA Premiere! DOWNSTREAM, 2009, 101 min. Dir. Simone Bartesaghi, Philip Kim, Neil Kinsella. Wes Keller (Jonathon Trent) lives in a near-future dystopia where the world’s oil supply has dried up, food is scarce and the female population has severely decreased due to cancer epidemics. What remains is a barbaric landscape in which a human life is considered currency. In the face of these atrocities, Wes attempts to retreat to a mythical world (possibly real, possibly imaginary) run on a substance known as "Plutopia." Discussion after the film with director Simone Bartesaghi, co-director, writer and producer Philip Kim and actors Jonathon Trent and Jono Roberts.
