SONUS QUARTET

Formed in 2003, Los Angeles-based Sonus Quartet challenges the definition of the traditional string quartet by fusing together diverse musical styles in both performance and in original composition. Regular appearances in venues ranging from prestigious concert halls to dive bars and clubs allow the Sonus Quartet to enjoy experimenting with new sounds and interpretations while exposing audiences to unexpected musical experiences.

Sonus has collaborated with a variety of esteemed artists such as Stevie Wonder at the Library of Congress, and Ringo Starr, Billy Preston and Dhani Harrison at The Concert for Bangladesh Revisited, as well as featured performances with Michael Buble, Babyface, Jewel, K.D. Lang, Gnarls Barkley, and Jeff Beck to name a few.

NICOLE SIMONE

Though born in the 80’s and raised in Los Angeles, California, Nicole Simone was fascinated with old films from a very young age. She writes all her music with the same love for nostalgia. Her influences range from David Lynch to Tom Waits to New Orleans funeral processions. Her music is haunting, intoxicating and timeless illustrated by a unique instrumentation of guitar, marxophone, orchestron, trumpet, mandolin, vibraphone, piano and ukulele. Nicole just completed her first EP, which will be released in March 2010. On the opening track entitled, “The Wedding Song” actor/musician Jason Schwartzman lent his talents on drums and banjo. Her music can be heard in several films including "The Good Life" starring Bill Paxton, Zooey Deschanel, and Harry Dean Stanton. Flaunt Magazine featured Nicole in a seven-page spread for their music issue alongside Bryan Ferry, Ryan Adams and Charlotte Gainsbourg. She has opened for artists such as Ed Harcourt, Jesca Hoop, Maria Taylor and Diane Birch.
