Photographer, painter, installation artist, and skate legend Ed Templeton is a natural documentarian, first coming to the art world's attention with his award-winning series Teen Smokers, a casual yet poignant compendium of portraits of kids on the global skate circuit that became fundamental to the Beautiful Losers juggernaut. Pursuing his brand of view-from-here observation of private and public experience, his latest book and exhibition for Roberts & Tilton focus his attention, lens, and pen on the specific ways in which seeing the world from the driver's seat of a car affects a person's sense of themselves, each other, and the place where they live — in this case, the southern edge of LA.
