It might be tempting to envision a romper room when you hear a maid café is hosting an exhibit with the same name as a popular kids' movie from over 20 years ago. But with New Museum curator Laura Hoptman at the helm, several A-list NYC galleries involved, and major modern artists, including Louise Bourgeois, Cindy Sherman, Mike Kelley, and Fred Tomaselli, The Never-Ending Story is anything but child's play. As the exhibition shows, the roles of fantasy, narrative, and imagination are as essential to creative expression as they are to the human spirit.
