For Love of Ivy was the first mainstream film to depict a mature romantic relationship between two black leading characters. Abbey Lincoln stars as Ivy, the much-valued maid of the white Austin household. To ensure that Ivy won't quit, the Austins blackmail corrupt trucking executive Jack Parks (Sidney Poitier) into romancing her.
