Los Angeles artist Mery Lynn McCorkle exhibits new mixed-media works combining rich, saturated colors with visceral, almost topographic textures, distressed surfaces, and dimensional manipulation of multiple layers. At once psychologically intense and aesthetically seductive, their expressive emotional narrative, though entirely abstract, makes a lot more noise than the show's title suggests. On Saturday, March 20, Silence gets noisy, as a host of authors and musicians including McCorkle, Rich Ferguson, and Annie Buckley gather in a night of art out-loud to benefit Dzanc Books.
