Note:
The architects and their students participate in an opening-night discussion moderated by SCI-Arc Director Eric Owen Moss and Sir Peter Cook.
After studying architecture in the '50s, Sir Peter Cook exhibited at ICA (where he later served as director), and co-founded Archigram, a group of '60s futurists who indulged in overtly consumer-driven, technologically inspired theoretical architecture projects. Now, the retired architect, professor, and writer turns curator when he invites five professors from the Bartlett School of Architecture to exhibit designs at the SCI-Arc Library Gallery. Each educator has brought a pupil whose work is exhibited alongside their mentor's, and while the boundary-crossing designs may seem extravagant, according to Cook, "...the art of indulgence is a threatened species. God preserve us from all those reasonable architects, those cool manners, those careful buildings. Go look elsewhere for that — there's plenty of it around."
