Lascivious Something is a marked departure from Sheila Callaghan's work as a writer on Showtime's The United States of Tara. Presented by the Circle X Theatre Company, the play begins with the incendiary reunion of two American ex-lovers: Liza (Alina Phelan) and August (Silas Weir Mitchell). August has traded his rabble-rousing American roots for a vineyard on a remote Greek island, where he and his young Mediterranean bride, Daphne, live in seemingly newly wedded bliss. The expatriate antihero is poised to taste the fruits of his first harvest when he is interrupted by Liza, whose sudden presence is as disconcerting as the radio announcement welcoming Ronald Reagan as America's newest president. Sibyl Wickersheimer's astute set design reflects the barren inner landscape of the complex characters, whose unfettered relationships with themselves — and each other — are inspired by Greek tragedy.

The Ford Theater says…

The Ford says: Lascivious Something, by Sheila Callaghan and presented by Circle X Theatre Company. It's 1980 and Reagan has just been elected. On a secluded Greek island, an American ex-pat pursues his passions: wine making and his breathtaking young bride. On the eve of his first tasting, an old lover reappears, and with her, a wild and violent past.
