“Rightfully entitled DreamWorlds, this short exhibition at the Williamson Gallery features the work of the Dreamworks animation artists that help bring imaginative concepts to fruition. The opening reception features a panel of creative experts, including Sam Michlap, art director of Shark Tale (2004), Kendal Cronkhite (James and the Giant Peach and The Nightmare Before Christmas), and Kathy Altieri, whose career in animation dates back to her background artistry for The Little Mermaid.”
Note:
DreamWorlds will open with a multimedia presentation, panel discussion and reception on Thursday, March 4. The presentation and panel, which will be held at Art Center’s Ahmanson Auditorium, will begin at 7 p.m. and be followed by a reception with refreshments in the Williamson Gallery at 8 p.m., and is open to the public.
Art Center's Alyce de Roulet Williamson Gallery has teamed with DreamWorks Animation to produce DreamWorlds, a behind-the-scenes look at the artistry and imagination of animated filmmaking. Over one-hundred objects in the exhibition include paintings, digital creations, posters, clay character models, film excerpts, an animation studio re-creation, and other byproducts of the complex animated filmmaking process that were drawn from popular DreamWorks projects such as Antz, Bee Movie, Madagascar, Monsters vs. Aliens, Shark Tale, Shrek and many others including the soon-to-be-released How To Train Your Dragon (debuting March 26, 2010).
