Gin Hammond
Thursday Mar 4, 2010 (8pm)
$20 General; $15 Members; $10 Full-Time Students
Acclaimed Seattle-based actress and playwright Gin Hammond presents her original, one-woman play Returning the Bones, based on the life and times of her aunt Dr. Carolyn Montier. In 1946, Carolyn, a medical student from rural Texas, was chosen to represent Howard University at the Students' International Clinic Congress in Europe following World War II. She faced the tough decision of whether to stay in the South and continue to fight for civil rights here in America, or escape to Paris and live the life she always dreamed of. In this provocative work, Hammond brilliantly responds to the most difficult of life's questions: how do you choose between your country, your people, and yourself?
