The only festival in the USA to showcase films from the Balkans and surrounding countries, the fifth annual South-East European Film Festival screens cinema from the former Yugoslavia, Romania, Albania, Bulgaria, Hungary, and Greece. Films in the five-day festival reflect a range of genres — including shorts, documentaries, and narratives — and are screened at the Los Angeles Goethe-Institut. The festival winds down May 3 with a business conference at UCLA Anderson, and the closing-night LA premiere of the Turkish film, A Step Into the Darkness, at UCLA's James Bridges Theater.

Goethe-Institut Los Angeles says…

The SEEFF says: Southeast European Film Festival educates about the cultural diversity of Southeast Europe and fosters cultural exchange through its annual presentations of films from this region. Throughout the year the program offers individual screenings and promotes SEE films at other festivals, organizes seminars and lectures, and creates opportunities for cultural exchange between Southern California and Southeast Europe.
