Mark Licari is known for his strikingly original vision of worlds in which the ordinary spins playfully out of control, where domestic order unravels, everything decays messily, and boundaries dissolve explosively between inside and outside, nature and technology, growth and putrefaction, and the normal and the uncanny. Both humorous and disturbing, the work itself often breaks out of the picture frame to take over entire rooms, as at shows at the Monterey Museum of Art (2009) and at Baldwin Gallery in Aspen (2008). Mark was born in Atlanta, GA, is represented by Honor Fraser in Los Angeles and has participated in group shows in Seattle, New York, and Milwaukee.
