“In some of the most spectacular examples of adaptive reuse, medical marijuana dispensaries have rapidly cropped up across the Southland, staking out vacant commercial space for pop-up pot shops delivering high-grade cannabis to LA patients. Over the course of one week, photojournalist and CalArts alum Michael Underwood laboriously documented over 250 local dispensaries. As California struggles with mounting restrictions on what has become a statewide phenomenon, the public can see the images projected nightly (or by appointment) at an itinerant gallery appropriately dubbed The End.”
