Hosted by Luke Wilson, the Academy presents the L.A. premiere of the digitally restored Definitive Director's Cut, with a cast-and-crew reunion featuring Peter Bogdanovich, Cybill Shepherd, Cloris Leachman, Eileen Brennan and Timothy Bottoms.
Set in the fading West Texas town of Anarene in the early 1950s, the film combines a poignant coming-of-age tale with a bittersweet appraisal of Anarene's discontented adults. The only movie theater in town is forced to close its doors due to lack of business, while Anarene's high school seniors grapple with conflicting feelings about sex, friendship, and responsibility, and the adults reflect on their unfulfilled lives.
