“Kate and Laura Mulleavy are a pair of 21st-century alchemists working with textiles instead of base metals. The Rodarte founders are also gifted artists, whose primary medium has them bridging the gap between fine art and fashion. They have costumes in the permanent collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, with solo shows at the Cooper-Hewitt Museum and the Museum of Contemporary Art. Now, they're bringing their sister-act to the Los Angeles County Museum of Art with a brand-new exhibit. Inspired by the frescoes of a 15th-century Italian artist, the Fra Angelico Collection is appropriately displayed on the third floor of LACMA's Ahmanson Gallery, which also exhibits art from the early Italian Renaissance.”
