An in-depth conversation with Steve James, award-winning producer/director of Hoop Dreams, the landmark documentary hailed by critic Roger Ebert as "the great American documentary." Eddie Schmidt (IDA’s Board President) will lead you through a look at James’ remarkable career, process and his work on such award-winning films as Stevie, The War Tapes, At the Death House Door, (James’ fourth film to be short-listed for an Academy Award); No Crossover: The Trial of Allen Iverson (for the IDA Award-winning ESPN “30 for 30” series); and James’ most recent film, The Interrupters, his sixth documentary produced with Kartemquin Films in Chicago, which premiered at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival.
