When The Sound of Music was first released, some critics regarded the precious box-office smash as too sweet for its own good. One even sneered that the musical was "the sugar-coated lie people seem to want to eat." Never mind the curmudgeons. Rodgers and Hammerstein's charming tale of the staid von Trapp family and their cheery governess with a singing problem (Julie Andrews) is pure pop bliss. Tonight, sate your sweet tooth at The Sound of Music sing-along. Boo the traitorous Rolf, hiss at the baroness, and Do-Re-Mi your heart out to the 16 classic tunes. Costumes — nuns, evil Nazis, curtain dresses, brown paper packages tied up with string — are encouraged.
