“The TCM Film Festival is the ultimate event for lovers of classic film. For four days in Hollywood, the event, now in its third year, attracts passionate film lovers from around the world who venerate host Robert Osbourne like a rock star. Style in the movies is the theme of this year’s festival – fashion, production design, architecture, and more. Film Noir expert Eddie Muller will oversee films and presentations focusing on the gritty glamour of Film Noir. The stylish aesthetic of Art Deco will also be explored, along with the breathtaking costumery of Travis Banton, who dressed silver screen glamour girls such as Marlene Dietrich and Carole Lombard. The 100th anniversary of Paramount Pictures will be celebrated with a screenings of movies produced by Robert Evans, who will be in attendance. Over 70 movies will screen at two classic 1920s theaters, Grauman's Chinese and the Egyptian. Numerous events take place at the 1927 Roosevelt Hotel and the Music Box, a 1920s theater-turned-concert venue. Passholder-exclusive events include a red-carpet gala screening of Cabaret (1971) and admission to Club TCM, offering parties, panel discussions, special exhibits, music, and autograph sessions with classic movie stars. There's no better opportunity for an immersion in vintage films and old-Hollywood settings.”
Turner Classic Movies will be heading to Hollywood in style for the third edition of the TCM Classic Film Festival, the network's star-studded event to be held Thursday, April 12 - Sunday, April 15, 2012. The central theme, a celebration of style in the movies, will touch on both the influence that movies have on popular styles and the impact that current trends have on the movies. Whether it's the look of a film's sets, costumes, title design or movie poster, this theme will put the Hollywood aesthetic in a whole new light. The Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, which has a longstanding role in movie history and was the site of the first Oscars® ceremony, will once again serve as the official hotel for the festival, as well as a central gathering point for attendees. TCM host and film historian Robert Osborne will serve as official host of the festival. TCM weekend daytime host Ben Mankiewicz will also host various events at the festival.
