Angelenos are famous for multitasking (especially behind the wheel), so we've piled on things you can do while simultaneously looking at art. Chinese New Year happens this week, and the annual parades and festivities go down amid plenty of open galleries. There's Filter magazine's Big Time party at the Hammer Museum, plus an ambitious multimedia exhibition on Bob Dylan at the Skirball. And, last but not least, today is Super Tuesday — so vote first, then watch the returns at a topical exhibition hosted by the appropriately named Circus Gallery.

The Myron Hunt-designed Ambassador Hotel was an infamous Los Angeles landmark until its demolition two years ago. Tonight, the Versailles of Hollywood royalty is revisited in Pat O'Neill's rarely seen avant-garde film The Decay of Fiction. O'Neill's experiment superimposes classic footage and found sounds over the building's fetid remains, which still offer glints of its golden age. With a litany of cinematographic tricks, including moments of beautiful time lapse, Decay captures ghostly gangsters, politicians, and bellhops in an ethereal moment that hangs between what once was and what now is.

Long before Jay-Z appeared on Panjabi MC's "Beware of the Boys" or MIA sampled Bollywood soundtracks, DJ Rekha started her internationally celebrated Basement Bhangra DJ nights in New York. Mixing hip-hop and traditional Indian/Pakistani music, her 2007 record (PLUG-nominated for Best DJ Album of the Year) and live sets define dance music's capacity to unite diasporic, multi-cultural elements. So you're just as likely to hear about her on NPR as you are in URB. Still, for all the weighty cultural implications Rekha conjures, none of it would matter if there weren't a bangin' bhangra dance party at the core.

Spanish entertainer Eva Yerbabuena has been called the preeminent flamenco dancer of her generation; the 37-year-old German-born, Cuban-trained artist frequently sells out halls across the world. After a headlining appearance in Leaving Las Vegas director Mike Figgis' documentary Flamenco Women ten years ago, she started her own dance company, the Eva Yerbabuena Ballet Flamenco group. Tonight, the five-piece troupe hits UCLA for Santa y Seña (Signs and Wonders), a provocative piece rooted in traditional Andalusian dance and brightened by Yerbabuena's highly stylized, modern flamenco footwork.

Los Amigos Invisibles take disco to parts unknown, combining Afro-Latin grooves, dirty bass lines, rattling timbales, hip-shaking congas, and Yazz-style organ into a singularly funky racket. Formed in Caracas, Venezuela, and later signed to David Byrne's Luaka Bop label, the traveling trovadores now get parties started all around the world. These days, they call New York City home, but for the next month, they'll be snaking their way around the country on a full US tour. Latin trip-hop conjunto Si*Sé join the Amigos on their sojourn.

Before Amy Winehouse, there was Dusty Springfield. Regarded as one of the first white songstresses to authentically incorporate black soul music into her own repertoire, Springfield remains an icon to many contemporary artists, including Sinéad O'Connor, Morrissey, and Elvis Costello. Featuring 13 of Springfield's signature hits, including "Son of a Preacher Man," Stay Forever also tackles the singer's personal life, highlighting her bold, ahead-of-its-time, open bisexuality and her refusal to perform to segregated South African crowds. Singer/actress Kirsten Holly Smith stars in this world-premiere one-woman musical.

Like the indie love child of the Sex Pistols and the Ramones, the Vacation take the Strip back to a time when sex, drugs, and rock 'n roll ruled supreme. With a near-cultish following, this rambunctious foursome (two of whom are identical twins) swarms the Viper Room every Thursday this month, including next week's perfect Valentine's Day date. Whether your flavor is raucous glam or gritty rock, these hot, sweaty (and occasionally shirtless) boys leave their audiences intoxicated in more ways than one. Joining them for the first week are pop/rock darling Katy Perry and Bowie-influenced up-and-comer Troy This.

This year's resurgent Dylanmania — from Todd Haynes' byzantine biopic, I'm Not There, to Murray Lerner's performance-driven documentary, The Other Side of the Mirror — continues with Bob Dylan's American Journey, 1956-1966, an exhaustive consideration of the multifaceted songman's early years. With its treasure trove of artifacts — including handwritten drafts, vintage recital bills, and an incredible recording of Dylan's first concert — it tracks the musician's ascension from Robert Zimmerman of Hibbing, Minnesota, to the rock 'n roll apotheosis of the '60s. Through the wonders of technology, a satellite exhibit offers a hands-on, multi-instrumental jam session with a simulated Dylan.

Today marks the start of the Year of the Rat — a much more auspicious time than the name implies. The rat, in fact, is the sign of clever people with good, expensive taste, who are capable of transcending their materialistic nature if they choose. After pondering that, join the neighborhood festivities in Chinatown at the Golden Dragon Parade on Saturday, and then on Sunday as the annual spectacle of art, music, food, and craft continues at the New Year Festival. Events take place on Hill and Ord Streets, up to Bernard, and bend back down Broadway. Tip: if you go on Saturday, leave extra time to visit the neighborhood art galleries, especially along the Chung King Road walkway.

Recently nominated for Best British Group at this year's Brit Awards, Editors are one of those bands that need to be seen live. Although their sound recalls the usual '80s-era UK-indie touchstones, the band's theatrical, wall-of-sound live aesthetic breaks the mold. Editors have grown up a bit since the critical and commercial success of their sophomore record, last year's An End Has a Start — releasing acoustic sessions and all. British Columbia's peppy, poppy Hot Hot Heat start things off.

All the President's Men and The Parallax View are two installments of director Alan J. Pakula's uncompromising "paranoia trilogy" — tales of corruption investigations full of tingling political intrigue. In the former, Robert Redford and Dustin Hoffman star as Washington Post reporters Woodward and Bernstein, who uncover that political scandal of political scandals, Watergate. As the pair approach Nixon's secret, the tension mounts, and the film's atmospheric mise-en-scène only makes things creepier. Parallax, meanwhile, follows a journalist (Warren Beatty) investigating a corporation's connection to a political assassination by becoming one of the hired guns.

Silverlake indie-acoustic duo Alex & Sam (Sam is the girl) play sugar-plum ballads with a touch of salty harmonies. The pair relate simple, elegant stories swathed in Sam's breathless, jazz-inflected mezzo and Alex's lanky, down-home guitars, with the occasional horn or string tagging along for the ride. Throughout their monthlong Sunday residency at Tangier, they're supported by an early set of sad-eyed confessions by Hollywood singer/songwriter Dustin Boyer.

Robert Altman's iconic film about life, love, and loss among the members of the 4077th Mobile Army Surgical Hospital in the Korean War strikes a perfect balance between comedy and drama, honoring, deconstructing, and illuminating the front lines of combat. The characters drink homemade gin, play wicked practical jokes on one another, fall in love, cross-dress, mourn friends, and hope for peace — all in the face of violence, fear, and uncertainty.

Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson, Center Theatre Group's world-premiere musical, busts out of the theatrical gate with energetic, rapier wit. Colored by its emo-influenced rock score, it veers into a contemporary morality play, exploring the follies and foibles of our nation's first progressive politician, with an exuberantly youthful cast to capture the spirit of discontent and disillusionment. If we had all been taught an American history as subversive as this, we'd not only be a nation of historical pundits; we'd also be one of bon-mot slingin', foulmouthed-yet-feel-good idealists.

This year's Pan-African Film Festival has a little bit of everything, from comedy to spoken word, workshops, panels, a fashion show, and Caribbean music. NAACP Image Award-winner Isaiah Washington hosts the Opening Night Gala, and Heroes' Jimmy Jean-Louis MCs a tribute to actress/singer Della Reese. For hip-hop fans, Ava DuVernay's This Is the Life tells the true story of LA collective, the Good Life, as they work to overcome obstacles and find their own diverging paths. The documentary features interviews with Cut Chemist and DJ Shadow.
