Another of LA's art-deco masterpieces, the Hollywood Palladium opened in 1940 with Frank Sinatra, and since then has hosted concerts by some of music's biggest stars, from the Grateful Dead to Portishead. In 2008, after a painstaking renovation, the theatre re-opened its doors — this time with Jay-Z on the bill — and revealed why the work was worth it. Its gorgeous interiors and classic elegance form the perfect backdrop for an eclectic calendar that still reflects the venue's star-power, generations later.
