LA's own historic preservation organization, the Los Angeles Conservancy is dedicated to identifying and revitalizing valuable landmarks across the Southland. Originally formed in 1978 to protect the Modernist/Beaux Arts Los Angeles Central Library, the Conservancy has since successfully rescued buildings such as the Bullocks Wilshire, the Cinerama Dome, Frank Lloyd Wright's Ennis House, and the Wiltern Theater. With over 7,000 members and 400 volunteers, America's largest local preservation group also sponsors a number of local initiatives and educational programs, including a wide variety of walking tours, as well as the annual Last Remaining Seats film series.
