The Los Angeles County Museum of Art recently underwent one of the most controversial — and successful — renovation/expansions in city history. The addition of its Renzo Piano-designed Broad Art Museum and stunning outdoor sculptures and public spaces makes a serious bid to give LA a physical center — as well as marking LA as the US city with the most public exhibition space devoted to contemporary art.
