Flavorpill says
Influential California industrialist Norton Simon was an avid collector and supporter of the arts, and, through his art foundations, he amassed an impressive collection or artworks ranging from 2000 year-old Asian sculptures to paintings by the Old Masters, Impressionists and early Modernists. The Museum is also home to masterpieces by post-war California artists assembled by the former Pasadena Art Museum. Its extensive exhibition and events programs are centered on this renowned collection.
