Salvadoran artist Ronald Morán looks to quell violence on all levels, infusing his work with symbols and simulacra. His new solo show at Kevin Bruk's includes paintings, installations, photography, and video. In one work, typical toys such as cowboy and Indian figures, tanks, and guns, are covered in industrial cotton fabric (as the artist has done with kitchenware and household items in other pieces), thus mollifying their association with violent acts. Also, don't miss Morán's black-and-white video documenting the Mara Salvatruchas, a brutal gang in El Salvador.
