Miami artist Vickie Pierre's work achieves a delicate, dainty quality that hints at a much deeper psychological landscape, exploring issues of identity, desire, and longing. For her first solo show at Ingalls, the artist has provided several paintings, as well as a wall drawing and installation. Pierre's works are highly poetic — not only in their incorporation of biomorphic forms, drips, and decorative text inspired by random musings, song lyrics, and overheard conversations, but also in their subtle exaltation of beauty and desire.
