Despite the rather turgid genre title used to refer to his work ("modern urban expressionism"), Marcus Antonius Jansen's paintings are beautifully rendered, meticulous tableaux of the concrete jungle. The New York native and Gulf War vet pays painstaking attention to detail, with a slight absurdist bent that helps to deconstruct his gritty streetscapes.
