Film La Vie de Jésus (1997)

Pit Romper Stomper against The Passion of the Christ and set it in apathetic Northern France and you might come close to the base wonder of French director Bruno Dumont's first feature. At once a story of wasted youth and a tale of transcendence, Dumont's chronicle follows a boy, his girl, and his motorbike buddies into a reckoning none of them had reckoned on while they were so sullenly pillaging the countryside. Whether leader of the pack Freddie will truly find his inner Jesus is anyone's guess, but it's a fair bet he's due at least one second coming.
