A hefty, eye-popping 256-page hardcover volume, Miami Contemporary Artists is a testament to the international relevance (and interest in) the Miami art scene. Just released, the book is co-authored by Julie Davidow, an artist-in-residence at the ArtCenter/South Florida, and Paul Clemence, a local architectural photographer/author. The comprehensive compilation includes over 100 local artists and 200 full-color images, and is exactly what Miami needs to further position itself on the greater art map. Now on view concurrently at the ArtCenter and the Freedom Tower, Miami Contemporary Artists: Creating a Scene, curated by local stalwart Gean Moreno, consists of two exhibitions that function as a creative arena for production and engagement, where selected artists will be actively involved throughout the run.
