Italian artist Maurizio Pellegrin has a distinct vision and a highly poetic sensibility. His last big show in Miami was more than a decade ago at MAM's former incarnation, the Center for the Fine Arts. For Pellegrin's anticipated solo exhibit at the Sacco Gallery, he presents a new, yellow/green-hued multimedia series that includes paintings, photographs, and several large-scale installations, all inspired by his beloved Venice — or, rather, what's left of it — and decrying its touristic and increasingly commercialized character. Of particular note are the 30-foot wall sculpture filled with Venetian objects and the floor installation of wooden pieces and Murano glass.
