Pip Brant, a local, internationally recognized artist and professor at FIU, works in sundry mediums, but one common thread in all her pieces is their darkly humorous nature. Take, for instance, her W'oodoo Parlor – a patently political work that allows viewers to pin "curses" on Bush look-alike voodoo dolls. Brant often displays some sort of anger in her work, decrying the many wrongs in society, but she does so with subtlety, wit, and irreverence, instead of impulsive acrimony. The Frost currently hosts an exhibit of the artist's works made since 2004, showcasing her weavings, her dyed and embroidered tablecloth series, and two large-scale installations.
