The unspoken premise of Mary Stuart Masterson's quiet composition is that things go unsaid not because they're unspeakable, but because it would hurt too much to hear them. Such is the case with the reticent Kimbrough clan, who have lost more than a mother and a wife; and such is the case with their other-side-of-the-tracks counterparts, who are determined to not lose what life's left to live.
