Visiting the opulent Vizcaya estate is an experience in itself, so hitting it up for the unveiling of a new art piece is really the icing on the cake. Commissioned by the Contemporary Arts Project, which taps artists to create original pieces for the Vizcaya property, Miami native Cristina Lei Rodriguez presents Struggling for Grandeur, a seven-foot-tall structure that complements the garden's topiaries. Rodriguez's works, which often combine epoxy, resin, and consumer products like plastic flowers, are compelling, synthetic evocations of natural forms — thus, perfect additions to the Vizcaya verdure.
