Film Killer of Sheep (1977)

Charles Burnett's classic Killer of Sheep may be the most famous film you've never seen. Set in the mid-'70s in LA's Watts district and cast with real folk, Burnett's quiet epic tells the small story of a family whose patriarch works in a slaughterhouse, and whose fate seems inextricably linked to the streets. Since the story is nothing more or less than life itself, and its imagery is gritty grace personified, it may also be the most telling non-narrative tale ever filmed.
