Former Miami Beach mayor Alex Daoud may not have presided over South Beach's tremendous growth, but he certainly set the stage. Convicted of obstruction of justice, bribery, money-laundering, and tax evasion, the thrice-elected mayor made the kind of headlines that really put a place on the map. Unfortunately for Daoud, they also put a man in the pen. Now Daoud's back, and, as you might suspect, he's got lots and lots of stories — but none more compelling than his own rise and fall and rise again. Sounds like South Beach to us.
