Araka have been holding down Monday nights at Jazid recently, playing to the wayward souls who trickle in on one of the slowest nights of the week. Their sound doesn't challenge the restless crowd too much: it's a fairly standard mishmash of rock, with a bit of reggae thrown in here and there. But the band's sheer abandon and drive transforms their sometimes-meandering maelstrom into something more, compelling folks to get into the spirit and, ultimately, stick around.
