Art Jorge Pardo: House

Jorge Pardo subverts traditional definitions of sculpture, design, and architecture. For instance, his 1998 solo exhibition at MOCA in Los Angeles didn't even take place at the museum: rather, the LA art star built a house in a hillside residential community (in which his family lives today) to function as a satellite space that visitors could explore during the show's run. Similarly, Pardo's big, new exhibition at MOCA in North Miami blurs the lines between design and so-called "high art," with objects arranged according to the layout of rooms in a house and photo murals of Pardo's actual home adding a surreal twist.
