Originally conceived as a traditional New Orleans funk-and-soul ensemble along the lines of the Meters or Booker T. & the MGs, Galactic have morphed into an outlet for groundbreaking turntablists and innovative MCs. Galactic's From the Corner to the Block, honed during tours with the Roots and Juvenile, doesn't disappoint — this latest release finds the band laying down the funk foundation for a ridiculous roster of underground wordsmiths. Tonight, expect guest appearances by Mr. Lif and Boots Riley of the Coup.
