Locust Projects opens the New Year with two installations — work that's, yet again, neither easily digestible nor readily sellable, but continues to push the boundaries of local art. London-born, LA-based Graham Hudson makes use of sound, light, and found objects in his work, and in Locust's main space, he creates a site-specific structure where light bulbs gyrate around spinning records on crackling turntables. Meanwhile, LA-based Aili Schmeltz's installation in the project room, entitled The Magic City, builds a topographical map of Miami entirely out of appropriately pink string and nails — a whimsical homage to our fair city.
