Last summer, Yo! BBQ was merely an opportunity for local promoters IAmYourVillain to throw a laid-back, mid-week version of their popular Chocolate Sundays party at Purdy Lounge. Since then, it's blossomed into something else entirely, with an unusual selection of hip-hop and skate rock soundtracking chicken-wing cookoffs and rummage sales. Tonight's event offers up second-hand vinyl from DJ crew the Second String Stunnas and back-stock Dunks sneakers from MIA Skateshop, as well as vintage clothing, DVDs, and comics. The regularly bizarre weekly tournaments — foosball, maybe ping-pong — give the whole thing a Dave & Buster's-meets-Salvation Army appeal.
