As gallery shows pop up all over the country and a new slate of stars makes its way to Miami, there's no question: contemporary Asian art is officially blowing up. Celebrating the Chinese New Year this evening, the new Galerie Bertin-Toublanc opens a two-person show featuring South Korean artist Kim Joon and Chinese artist Xu Yongkang. Joon's photographs masterfully display body parts that are intricately covered with colorful markings — the perfect accompaniment to his bizarre, skin-like cloth pieces adorned with tattoos. In contrast, Yongkang satirizes cloning issues with droll double portraits of impossibly cute babies.
