Gallery Diet says…

Once, Charley Friedman walked into New York's Jack Tilton Gallery as one of his alter egos, "art dealer" Betsey Geffen, and tried to coax the gallerist into buying some of his work — a telling performance for the Brooklyn-based artist. Friedman's subversive, comedic approach begets sculptures, installations, photographs, and videos, all inflected by his off-kilter humor (see his onerous One Hour Smile video). He's taken over Gallery Diet with various multimedia works, including a clock made from lobster shells, a four-channel video in which he sings "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band," and Carpet World, a massive, hand-latch-hooked geopolitical globe.
