In addition to Luis Cruz Azaceta's solo show, Bernice Steinbaum is exhibiting Jill Cannady's dramatic and stirring works. Titled Women of the Storm, the series of intense, emotional paintings enlivens the Projects Room, where Cannady's fierce portraits manifest every millimeter of anger, pain, struggle, fear, and suffering that their subjects have endured. The storm scenes are equally forceful: the action-filled drawings emotionally portray those victimized by extreme natural disasters.
