As one of Snitzer's younger artists, Alex Sweet is poised to create some buzz in the local scene, especially with this first solo exhibition. In subject matter, his work may recall that of colleague and friend Michael Vasquez (both are members of art/design collaborative Gorilla Tactiks and often portray their gangster friends), but his aesthetic is entirely his own. Sweet displays an impressive use of watercolor, but the artist manifests his truly dexterous hand with his graphite drawings on paper and wood-burned pieces — portraits that are meticulous and revealing, potent and memorable.
