Gearing up for the spring season, Galerie Emmanuel Perrotin opens two heavy-hitting shows, one by Belgian artist Johan Creten and the other by Frenchman Jean-Michel Othoniel. Recently an artist-in-residence at legendary French porcelain factory Manufacture Nationale de Sèvres, Creten treats ceramics as a highly flexible medium capable of the finest detail, revisiting classical forms and warping them with a rococo-inspired aesthetic. Meantime, Othoniel has a knack for morphing glass into stunning sculptural and architectural works; this show features a giant abacus bedecked with pearls of Murano glass, each representing one day of the year.
