Something about the Manicato crew may strike local music fans as familiar — specifically, their freewheeling, big-band blend of Latin rhythms, roots-heavy reggae, and rock edge. That's because this San Francisco outfit is family, essentially operating as the west-coast branch of Miami's Monkey Village, the local arts and music collective that serves up some of the city's best sounds. Manicato have started making semi-regular trips to visit their South Florida folks, and along with their multilingual, polyrhythmic stew tonight, anticipate a family reunion of sorts — in other words, a jam for the ages.
