More Flavor: Festival Viernes Culturales

It's easy to dismiss Calle Ocho as little more than a beat-up strip of bodegas, luncherías, and used-furniture stores. But some remember a time when it was the center of Cuban life in Miami; when the smells of cafecito and cigar smoke wafted from the windows; when, for a brief, pre-Wynwood instant, its character-rich storefronts were the venues of choice for up-and-coming art galleries. In fact, much of that vibrant culture still takes to the street — along with the usual junk vendors, salsa bands, and art sellers — the last Friday of every month. Meet in front of the historic Tower Theater at 6pm for a free tour by Miami's foremost historian, Dr. Paul George.
