It's been a little while since Gainesville's Umoja Orchestra brought their spirited big-band take on Latin funk and jittery Afrobeat down the turnpike. But don't hold it against them — they've been hard at work on their second album, Abre La Puerta. Whereas Umoja usually hold it down as one of the stand-out acts in their home town's music scene (often inviting Miami's own Latin-funk superstars Suenalo to open for them) tonight's show kicks off the band's latest east-coast tour. Expect their horns and beats to be running just a little bit funkier than usual.
